TOWARDS HUMANITY!

In their multi-screen video installation with interactive features, the artist duo Böhler & Orendt will create a parallel world within the Spreepark and bring to life the thoughts of a group of trees and the communication between them. Equipped with interfaces that play back sound and video, the trees are each given their own "facial features" and "voices". This enables them to appear to the human visitors of the Spreepark as individual characters with their own ideas and a clear need to communicate. When people are nearby, they become active and loudly discuss their strengths and weaknesses.

In this play of images, self-images and attributions, it is fundamentally always a matter of identifying and revealing the effects of human intervention on nature. In doing so, they dissolve the clear boundaries between nature and culture and create accessible worlds in which alternative narratives can emerge.
