realities:united

realities:united was founded in 2000 by Jan and Tim Edler as a studio for art and architecture. Together with their team, they have since received international recognition for initiating and producing art and hybrid art installations on an architectural and urban scale. They have collaborated with architects such as Will Alsop, Peter Cook, EM2N, Bjarke Ingels, Moon Hoon and Nieto Sobejano on urban planning and construction projects. The two brothers are also the initiators of FLUSS BAD BERLIN, an urban development project for the communal use of the Spree, located in the center of Berlin, supported by the federal and state governments and now run by the non-profit association under the same name.

The work of realities:united can be found in museum collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein and the Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach, as well as in various private collections. Works in public space can be found in Germany, Canada, Korea, Serbia, Singapore, and the USA.

The brothers have exhibited projects internationally, including at the Tinguely Museum Basel (2022/23), Berlinische Galerie (2019), Gwangju Biennale (2017), Vitra Design Museum (2013), Museum für angewandte Kunst Köln (2012), at MoMA New York (2011), Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach, Swiss Architecture Museum in Basel (2008), MOCA Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei (2007), and on several occasions at the Venice Biennale (2002, 2006, 2008).

The Edlers have received numerous awards, including the Berlin Art Prize (Förderpreis Baukunst) from the Academy of Arts in Berlin, the Regional LafargeHolcim Award for Sustainable Construction in Gold and the Global LafargeHolcim Award in Bronze for the project FLUSS BAD BERLIN.
