Memories wanted!

On September 10 and 11, 2023, Spreepark Art Space started a public research on past amusement park times.

On two Sundays in September, visitors were welcome to immerse themselves in the eventful past of the Spreepark. Anecdotes about fun times or long working days in the Kulturpark Plänterwald and later Spreepark were just as welcome as photos, admission tickets or postcards. These stories and materials will become part of the narrative(s) about the former amusement park and will flow into the exhibition Past Pleasures, which will be shown in the exhibition rooms in the Eierhäuschen from November 9, 2024 to January 5, 2025. Special stories were also recorded in an interview with the author Anne Waak during a ride in Futuro13 on the Spree.

Short stories allowed insights into the history of the Eierhäuschen - its architecture, former use and future program. The former workshop hall, where rides used to be repaired, also became a window into the history of the place:

Installation Spree Space Act 01, Constructlab (Alex Römer, Peter Zuiderwijk)

The gable wall of the workshop hall, redesigned by artists' collective Constructlab, interweaves the relics of the amusement park with the flora and fauna overgrowing them in two large-format graphics. Peepholes in the hall provide a glimpse of legendary relics such as the dinosaurs, swan boats and chapeau claque cars. The installation is the first act in a series of interventions by the Constructlab collective and also marks the start of the research and exhibition project Past Pleasure.
