Sol Calero

Sol Calero was born in 1982 in Caracas, Venezuela and lives and works in Berlin. Through painting and sculptural motifs, she creates settings that function as places of gathering and interaction. In this process, she draws on the exuberant colour spectrum of Latin American art and its popular aesthetics. Despite the playful feel of her environments, they are steeped in art historical and socio-cultural references.

Calero's work is often exhibited in public spaces such as at the Folkstone Triennial in 2017 or in the garden of Brücke Museum in Berlin in 2019. Among other recognitions, she received the Audience Award at the Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
