What do the pristine waters and countless layers of mud in the Spreepark smell like? What sounds resonate on the grounds in the middle of the night? Where do the paths of people, plants, and animals converge, what echoes of history linger? Resident artists have used the park as a research site and a laboratory. With Park Insights, artist, researcher and composer Marcus Maeder, photographing author Sabine Scho, olfactory researcher and artist Sissel Tolaas, and artist and architect Annett Zinsmeister offer multi-sensory insights into their investigations, revealing hidden structures and dimensions of the park.

Sabine Scho’s PARK ALPHABET redefines the park again and again through linguistic and pictorial collage. Marcus Maeder’s SPREEPARK SOUNDSCAPE – A MULTI SPECIES SOUND INSTALLATION superimposes archived sounds of the park in a compound soundscape comple mented by images  of the species spotted on site. Annett Zinsmeister’s TRACING SPREEPARK is an open invitation to follow her investigative search for clues and immerse yourself in her unexpectedly surreal spatial installation. And with WATERGATE_NEWS SINKING IN_FORMATION, Sissel Tolaas presents an excerpt from her olfactory mapping and addresses the historical polarities of the park.
